It has been a month of a week. I think we all held out a bit of hope that 2021 had more to offer us and it turns out that the first 10 days have proven to be some sort of sick sequel to 2020.
In saying that, Twitter got a late Christmas gift with the overdue departure of DT – so there’s always that.
Here’s a list of some things I enjoyed or found interesting over the last week in the hopes that you might find something here to enjoy too.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – This book was recommended to me at least ten times last year and I see it on almost every reading list out there so I finally gave it a shot. I’m stingy with my ratings on Goodreads and this got the whole 5 stars. I read this in 2 days and I mourned the loss of it when I finished.
Auschwitz – Birkenau Virtual Tour – Pandemic means we can’t travel but thanks to the internet it doesn’t mean we can’t still see some amazing places or places we want to visit. This website lets you travel through the Auschwitz – Birkenau concentration camp and gives you lots of historical information on the buildings etc.
Train Driver’s View Cab Ride from Bangkok to Mae Klong – On YouTube you can watch a live train ride through Thailand from the train drivers perspective. When I’m reading or writing I like to watch things that require little or no brain power. This is interesting and also beautiful.
Cobra Kai on Netflix – Years after The Karate Kid comes Cobra Kai. This show is painfully cringy, predictable and extremely cheesy and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s fantastic and I’m completely addicted.
The Secret Bookstore – Hat tip to @HamSamboCinema on Twitter for this one. Irish book shop in Dublin selling new and used books, delivering to your home. Some absolutely brilliant titles on there that I couldn’t pick up anywhere else and the prices are incredible. I’ll be curtain twitching in the morning in the hopes that postman Larry brings my order!
Have a nice Sunday evening!
